Renault Samsung Motors announces sustainable growth plan

Renault Samsung Motors disclosed the company's new sustainable growth strategies at a press conference on January 25 in Seoul (Korea).

RSM was committed to reviving growth momentum and enhancing its profitability amid the growing global economic uncertainties and sluggish domestic economy throughout 2012. RSM was procuring over 70% of its entire part supply from local vendors as of the end of 2012, and it is planning to continue to raise the localization target to 80% by the end of 2013. Having strengthened partnerships with local suppliers, the company and supplier network successfully localized more than 2,000 parts and components in 2012.


RSM is continuing its efforts to increase its domestic market share and expand exports through enhancing product competitiveness. New SM5 Platinum, a facelift version of SM5 launched in November last year, has attracted a positive response from consumers thanks to its unique design and top-notch fuel efficiency rating in its class (7.1 litres / 100 kms).


As part of the sustainable growth strategy, RSM is to take the lead on the development of SM5 outside Europe and international QM5.


In addition to these efforts, RSM is to continue to revamp the Busan Plant for the production of Nissan's new Rogue from 2014 and maximize the plant's productivity in order to turn the facility into one of the top manufacturing plants within the Renault-Nissan Alliance.


Aiming to regain the domestic market share of 10% in the long term, RSM will continue to place its top priority on quality on its 'No Compromise in Quality' principle. The automaker also plans to establish 14 new customer service centers this year reaching 500 after sales service centers all over Korea.


RSM also aims to play an important role in leading the growth momentum in Asia, as the Renault Group is set to focus on expanding its sales in the non-European markets in 2013.
